Exciting News & a Recipe!!! :)

Hello everyone!  I do not have a project for you today, but I wanted to announce that my niece, Sophie, has finally arrived!!!!  :)  She was born on 11/12/12 and she is the cutest little thing!!!  I figured since today marks her being one week old, it was time to post a pic or two...  My niece, Chloe, is adjusting really well and she LOVES her baby sister (and she thinks it's pretty cool being a big sis)!

I am the proudest Aunt in the world!  :)

I love this picture!  So cute that big sis is already looking after little sis...

Awwwww!

Okay, since Thanksgiving is this week I figured I would share one of my favorite pie recipes with you!  I love baking, and I have been designated the "family baker", so my job is to bring desserts to our holiday celebrations.  This pie is always a hit, so enjoy!!!

Irresistible Pecan Pie

Original recipe makes 1 - 9 inch pie

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. To Make Crust: In a medium bowl, combine flour, salt and white sugar. Cut butter into flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually sprinkle the water over the dry mixture, stirring until dough comes together enough to form a ball.
  3. On a floured surface flatten dough ball with rolling pin. Roll out into a circle that is one inch larger than pie dish. Place pie shell into dish and refrigerate until pie filling is complete.
  4. To Make Pie Filling: In a medium bowl, mix together eggs, light and dark corn syrups, brown sugar, butter, salt and finely crushed pecans. Spread quartered pecans over bottom of refrigerated pie crust. Pour syrup mixture over top of pecans, then arrange pecan halves on top of pie.
  5. Bake in a preheated 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven for one hour or until firm; let cool for one hour before serving.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!  :)

Halloween Hand Sanitizer

Hello everyone!  Well last weekend and this week were very busy, so this weekend I am taking it easy!  Yesterday I cleaned my house, and today I am going up to my parent's house for a nice dinner!  You need weekends like this every now and then...  :)  Anywho, it's another DT day over at Joy's Life.  This week we were asked to make 3D projects.  I saw this idea for a hand sanitizer box on Pinterest.  I think it is the cutest darn thing, and it was actually really easy to make!  :)  You can click HERE for instructions on how to make it.

Halloween Frankenstein Card

Hi there!  Well, I had a very fun time yesterday going to the fair!  The weather was perfect, the company was awesome, and the fair was just right!  I like looking at the animals, the art exhibits, the different gadgets, etc...  Today we are having my sister's baby shower, so that should be awesome!  We never have a small gathering (especially when it also involves my brother-in-law's family), so we are expecting over 50 people to show up today!  Whew!  I know it will be fun...  Anywho, today is a DT day for me at Joy's Life.  Our challenge this week was to include embossing on our project.  I love embossing and Halloween, so I combined the two!  :)

4" square card
Cuttlebug- d'vine swirls
Joy's Life Stamps- Halloween Puns

There you have it!  This card was SUPER easy to make!  I'm one of those people who is always buying craft stickers and I never use them, so...  I made myself use them on this card!  :)  Frankenstein is my favorite guy, so I thought he would be cute on here...  Thanks for stopping by!
