School Stuff & Crafts My Sister Made

Hi everyone!  Long time, no see...  again...  I have not actually made any kind of cards/crafts in over a month!  It's about time that I start setting aside some time to do that...  I don't have a card to share today, but I do have some school projects that I thought were cute & fun, so I decided to post them for ya!  I'm also going to show you some cute projects that my sister has been working on (she's very talented, but she doesn't think so)...  :)  I'm so sorry that I haven't posted in such a long time, I'm going to try and be better...

This was a super simple project that my sister made using some of the scrapbook paper from my stash.  We just found a cute patterned paper, chose solid colored cardstock to match, and then she traced their hands and stacked them...  VOILA!    I think it came out really adorable!
Here's a "no soliciting" sign that she made.  She just picked up a frame, some scrapbook paper & stickers, and some ribbon and put this little beauty together!

My sister also made this Cat in the Hat poster that goes along with the new common core standards in Kindergarten.  When she showed me this, my jaw dropped!  Super cute!
We had our annual Family Literature Night last week and my booth was featuring the author/illustrator, Mo Willems.  I LOVE HIS BOOKS (and so do the kids)!  To make this poster, I just sketched out the characters, colored them with chalk, and traced them with black Sharpie.  The idea for coloring with chalk is a technique I stole borrowed from my sister.  :)

Saw the idea for these balloons on Pinterest (a website I feel I may be addicted to).  These were extremely easy to make; just a balloon and a Sharpie...

Here's a shot of the entire booth all put together!  Here I am with my friend, Shelly...  We aren't too cool to wear a pigeon headband!  The headbands were really easy to make and the kids LOVED them!  It's literally just a blue circle, white circle, black circle, and yellow triangle.  The kids glued them together, then we attached them to a sentence strip and put them on their little noggins.  It was really cute to see all of the little "pigeons" walking around the auditorium!  :)

Well, there's a little snapshot of what I've been up to...  I hope to be back soon with some sort of card!  :)  Thanks for stopping by!!!!!

Dinosaur Card & Party for Chloe

Hello everyone!  I can't believe this is the first post I have done in February!!!!!  Oh my goodness!  There has been a lot going on for me, including the worst flu ever!!!!  I have not been this sick since high school!  My students are also dropping like flies, so I am disinfecting my room every chance I get...  Unfortunately the flu meant that I didn't have a very exciting birthday either, and my poor little niece was sick on her birthday too.  We did have her awesome dinosaur birthday party today, so we made up for being sick on our actual birthdays!  :)  One good thing that happened on my birthday was that my boyfriend sent me roses!  They were delivered to my school, and it was sweet, adorable, and completely unexpected!  :)  Anywho, here is the card that I made for my niece, and because I've been missing for so long, I will also show you pictures of her party (there's some cute ideas there), and I'll share a recipe for the punch that we made...

Frosted Designs- use bold colors or patterns
Paper Playtime- use a sentiment stamp
Go Fish Challenge Blog-  photo inspiration (bright colors and circles)
Craft Your Passion- use glitter

Birthday Bash- number 7 cut at 5.94"
Create a Critter- T-Rex cut at 3.59", other dinosaur cut at 3.47"
Sweet Treats- gift cut at 1.35", party hat cut at 1.35"
Cuttlebug- circle pattern (Papertrey Ink)
My Creative Time Stamps- Wow! So Many Candles
Stickles- star dust, yellow, magenta, lime green

Okay, here are some pictures from my niece's dinosaur themed birthday party!  A lot of these ideas are things my sister found on Pinterest...  The party was an absolute hit, and I think all of the kids AND adults had fun!!!!  :)

We made the spewing lava by pouring melted sugar over ice cubes.  It created those really cool twisted looking pieces!

These were the "goodie bags".  Each kid took home a dinosaur egg (paper mache), then cracked it open when they got home.  Parents were texting pictures of their kid opening up the egg (so exciting)!  :)

Here's the birthday weirdo, I mean kid...  She loves T-Rex!  The kids also got to do a really cool dinosaur fossil hunt at night.  My sister made fossils out of dough, then we hid them all over the yard.  When it got dark, we had the kids look for fossils using flashlights.  Everyone really loved that activity!  :)

Here's the recipe for the Luscious Slush Punch.  Now, in the picture it doesn't look very "luscious" or "slushy", but trust me, it was really good!

Luscious Slush Punch
(Recipe from allrecipes.com)

*We only used 1 cup of white sugar (it was still sweet enough), and we froze the mixture in gallon Ziploc bags.

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups white sugar
6 cups water
2 (3 ounce) packages
strawberry flavored Jell-O® mix
1 (46 fluid ounce) can
pineapple juice
2/3 cup lemon juice
1 quart
orange juice
2 (2 liter) bottles
lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage

Directions

  1. Bring the sugar, water, and strawberry flavored gelatin to a boil in a large saucepan; boil for 3 minutes. Stir in the pineapple juice, lemon juice, and orange juice. Divide mixture into 2 separate containers and freeze.
  2. Combine the contents of 1 container with 1 bottle of the lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage in a punch bowl; stir until slushy. Repeat with remaining portions as needed.

Okay everyone...  Thanks for stopping by, and I'm sorry it's been so long!

Retirement Cards & A Cute School Project

Hello!  I am sooo excited that I have a 3-day weekend!  I haven't done much crafting since my Christmas vacation ended, but I wanted to share some cards that I made.  My mom and our family friend, Robin both retired recently, and neither one of them were given a proper party at work, so....  we had a surprise party for both of them last night!  It was so fun, and these are the cards I ended up making for them.  Oh, and at the bottom of this post I just have to share an art project that my students did for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day...

4" square card

Cuttlebug- In Bloom impression plate (Papertrey Ink)
Joy's Life Stamps- Joyful Hearts & Everyday Occasions
Twine

Okay, now here is the cutest Martin Luther King, Jr. project!  I found this idea on Pinterest, and I just couldn't resist making it...  My class LOVED making this project, and they loved talking about Martin Luther King.  I showed them a video of his "I Have a Dream" speech and they were mesmerized!  First graders are just too adorable!  :)  The project in the picture is the one that my niece made...

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you all have a great weekend!  :)

Just My Type Card

Hello and Happy New Year!  Hope everyone had a safe and fun New Year's...  Mine was really nice, just spent time with my family.  I am so excited that I actually made a card, AND I'm going to enter it into some challenges!!!!  Woo hoo!  I haven't entered a challenge in almost a year, so I'm excited about this...  :)

Die Cuttin' Divas- follow the sketch
Cut It Up- use something you wouldn't typically use in paper crafting (I used foil)
Scrappy Moms Stamps- use the Tic-Tac-Toe board (glitter, sentiment, die cuts), they also had a secret phrase on their blog hop "baby New Year"
Little Miss Muffet Challenges- anything goes

Doodletype- typewriter cut at 2.18"
George and Basic Shapes- paper in typewriter cut at 1.82", circles cut at 1.5, 1.75"
Hoot 'n' Holler- heart cut at 1.35"
Cuttlebug- doodle hearts (The Paper Studio)
Scrappy Moms Stamps- Quirky Quotes
Stickles- Christmas red
Brads
Aluminum foil

I could not get the aluminum foil to cut in my Cricut, it just kept getting torn to shreds (no matter what I tried)...  So, I just used my ATG gun to attach it to a piece of black cardstock (the cardstock was already in the shape I wanted), then I cut around it with my craft knife.  Hope you enjoyed it, and I'm so glad you stopped by!!!!  :)

Year In Review, Part 2

Hello!  Well, as promised, here is the second half of my Year in Review for 2012...  Now I'm going to start looking forward to many more projects for next year!  :)  I am hoping to enter more challenges, and just have fun in my craft room.  I had so much fun being on all of my Design Teams, but it definitely made it more difficult for me to make projects for challenges, etc.  Anywho, here are some of my favorite projects from July-December...  Enjoy!

Well that wraps up 2012!!!!  Have a wonderful, safe, and Happy New Year's!!!  See you in 2013!  :)
