Hello everyone!  This is my 200th post!  I can't believe I took such a long break from my blog, then I come back with two posts in a row, and one of them is the big 200!  :)  I have been very busy ever since school started back again...  I also met a nice guy, but the timing is not ideal!  I actually ended up meeting him 4 days before he left the country to go teach English!  We have been emailing back and forth, but I'm not sure if it will end up going anywhere...  Would be nice if it did!  :)  Anywho, it's another challenge day over at Fantabulous CricutThe challenge this week is:  Trains, Plains, and Automobiles- make a project with some sort of transportation

Fun in the Sun Blog Hop

Hello everyone and welcome to the Joy's Life DT Fun in the Sun Blog Hop!  If you just hopped here from Ashley you're in the right place!  If you want to start at the beginning click HERE...

I have to admit that summer is not my favorite season...  I know, how could I say that!?!?!  The area where I live gets REALLY HOT during the summer and a lot of our days reach over 100 degrees!  However, I do love BBQs!  It is so fun to have people over and just eat, drink, and enjoy each other's company...  I have a really nice back yard and it does lend itself well to outside gatherings!  :)  I also really love to cook, and a BBQ is a nice way to have everyone over so I can do just that!

I decided that for my project I would make a BBQ invitation using one of Joy's new stamps!  This set will be available very soon, and I love it!  It's very punny (which is my fave), and it's all about summertime!  :)

Father's Day Cartridge- BBQ cut at 2.65"
Everyday Paper Dolls- grass cut at .79" (I welded it to a rectangle)
Cuttlebug- forest branches
Joy's Life Stamps- Pun in the Sun (coming soon!)
Twine

Okay, one last thing before you enjoy the rest of the hop!  I thought it would be great to share with you one of my favorite summertime recipes...  I make this salsa/dip/relish stuff for every BBQ, it's just so stinkin' good!  Trust me, you must make this at your next summertime gathering!  :)

Black Bean & Corn Salsa
(Combine all of these ingredients, stir together, and serve with tortilla chips)

2 cans drained black beans
1 bag frozen corn
1/2 c. olive oil
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1 c. vinegar (I use a combo of seasoned rice vinegar & white)
1 bunch of cilantro, chopped
1/2 red onion, chopped
1 red pepper, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
Salt & pepper to taste
Avocado, diced

Okay everyone,  you're next stop on the hop is Maria!  :)

Get Well Soon Card for Mom

Hello everyone!  I am so glad that tomorrow is Friday!!!  Woo hoo!  I am also relieved because my mom went in for surgery today and it went very well!  Her surgery took place about 45 minutes away, so my sister, niece and I are going to drive up there tomorrow to visit her in the hospital.  She had to have surgery on her knee (I believe it was a complete knee replacement)...  Luckily my dad was able to be there for her (check her in, wait with her, see her when the surgery was done)...  I whipped up this little beauty to give to her, and I had to incorporate crutches since that is how she will be getting around for a while!

Celebrate the Occasion- any occasion (must be circle shaped)
Paper Playtime- anything goes

Mini Monograms- card base cut at 5.47"

There it is!  I kept this one nice and simple...  I wanted it to have a cheerful feel...  My niece also wanted to make a card for "gagga".  She came up with all of the colors, cuts, sizes, and the sentiment inside.  She even used the Cuttlebug all by herself (well, kind of by herself)!  We wanted to see what this little Kindergartener would come up with, and the result is so cute!  Here is a picture of what she created....  :)

Enjoy!  :)

Y2K Card- Peachy Keen Stamps LFIF Challenge

Hello everyone!  I have had a very nice Thursday, just spent the day shopping with a wonderful friend!  :)  It's also my hubby and I's 10 year anniversary (of the day we met)!  I can't believe it's been a decade!  Anywho, the Let's Face it Friday Challenge at Peachy Keen Stamps is to create something that represents the year you graduated from high school....  This is so fun!  I graduated in 2000 (my dad was so excited I was going to be in the first graduating class in the new millenium), and so the first thing I did was Google things that happened that year....  It was so fun looking back at some of the things that were happening 11 years ago:  President Bush was elected (remember the "hanging chads" and all of that chaos with the ballots?); N'Sync, Christina Aguilera, and Britney Spears were the big music stars; the first season of Survivor came on (I've never watched that show); etc., etc., etc.....  I also got my driver's license that year (I don't know why I waited until I was 18)!  :)  BUT, the one thing that kept sticking out in my mind was the big hype about Y2K and the computers crashing at midnight on 1/1/2000.  In my senior pictures I even posed with a big Y2K sign (it's so funny)!  So here is what I came up with....

A2 sized card
George and Basic Shapes- computer: squares cut at 2.06" & 1", oval cut at 1.71"
Everyday Paper Dolls- girl & clothes cut at 4.52", hair cut at 4.29"
Cuttlebug- seeing spots
Peachy Keen Stamps-  Everyday Character Face Assortment
Y2K-  OCR A Extended font at size 72
Stickles- star dust
Glossy Accents
Mini button brad
Cord

This card was very simple to make (and very silly), and I was smiling the entire time I was making it!  Hope this puts a smile on your face too...  Enjoy reminiscing!  :)

** I am also submitting this in the Craft Junkie Too T.G.I.F. linky party.
