Fall Magnetic Frame

Hello everyone!!!!  I can't believe it has been over a week since I posted!!!  WOW!  Joy @ Joy's Life gave us the week off from crafting, so I have been doing other things to occupy my time...  It was nice to take a break, but it was also nice to get back into my craft room!  :)  Anywho, this week we were asked to make a Fall home decor project...  I made a magnetic frame to put on the fridge a while back, and I decided to make another one!  This new stamp set is so stinkin' cute!

Okay everyone, I hope you're all as excited about fall as I am!  Fall is my favorite season (well.... and winter too)!  I just love it when the weather begins to cool down, and I love making all of my favorite baked goods!!!!  :)

Pie Love You Card & A House Built by my Niece!!!! :)

Hello and Happy Friday!!!!  To be honest, I have lost track of the days of the week, but the school year is quickly approaching!  Soon, I will not be sleeping in, acting as if every day is Saturday, etc...  One good thing about this new school year is that I will be teaching my niece!!!!  I am so excited!  She is such a brilliant, funny kid and I am excited to be her first grade teacher!  :)  At the bottom of this post you will find a special project that my niece created!  But first, here is a card that I made for the Joy's Life DT...

A2 sized card
Country Life- pie/rolling pin cut at 3.82"
Joy's Life Stamps- Yummy Puns
The Paper Studio- Farm Fresh Paper Pack

OKAY!  My niece is a very creative and crafty kid...  She made this house ALL BY HERSELF!  She is 6 years old, and this just blew me away!  When she finished this project, she asked my sister "Mommy, do you think Aunt Amy would put this on her blog?  It is about crafting."  HOW CUTE!  How could I resist?!?!?  Without further ado, here is the cute little house that Chloe built!  :)

Here is the arteest with her creation!

Front view.  She even put smoke in the chimney, added a sun, and the door opens!  The address is her birth date!

The interior.  Love the textured walls!  The TV is on the "Antarctica Channel".

Back view.  You can really see the sun on the straw here...

Love the flag and the shingled roof!

I had to get a close up of the window...  That's Mommy, Daddy, Chloe, and little Sophie (who will be born in November)!  She's already a proud big sister...  :)  You can see that my sister is a redhead too!   Hee hee..

Hope you enjoy and, as always, thank you so much for stopping by!!!!  :)

Recycled Dog Treat Holder

Hello everyone!!!!  Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!  I want to thank everyone for your well wishes about my leg...  It's definitely healing, and I am able to move around pretty normally now.  I had to make several trips to the doctor, and he diagnosed me with "second degree road burn" on my lower leg!!!!  YIKES!  I got a tetanus shot, two different types of antibiotics, and lots of bandage changes!  I'm also very happy my dad is healing too, his arm has a HUGE bruise!  Soooo glad we're both getting better!  I'll share a couple pictures at the bottom of this post... Anywho, today is another challenge over at Krafty Girls!!!!  The challenge this week is: 3D projects.  I decided to turn an old peanut butter jar into a dog treat holder...  My mom hoards (I mean, collects) containers like that, so I put one of them to good use!  :)  My dogs sure do approve of this project!!!

Mini Monograms- I turned a scalloped circle into an oval H 4.10 x W 2.56"
George and Basic Shapes- oval cut at 2.94 x 2.10"
Doodletype- "yum!" cut at .76"
Peachy Keen Stamps- Wide Eyed and Bushy Tailed Face Assortment
Stickles- star dust, cotton candy
Patterned paper
White gel pen- stitching and paw prints
Peanut butter jar (mine's Jif, guess my mom's a "choosy mom"), hee hee
Dog treats

Okay, here are some pictures from my freak accident....

This is the "sinkhole" we fell into!  That was so scary!  I think the two pieces on the left are the ones that ate my leg!

Here's a picture of my upper leg!  This was after it was already starting to heal...  The bruise was much darker, and it looked really dark on that white leg (the camera flash really washed out what little color I do have on those legs, and trust me it's not much to begin with)!

*I won't show you the lower leg (it's way too gnarly)!  My sister is pregnant and she gets sick when she looks at it, so that pretty much sums it up!

Well...  Hope you enjoyed my treat holder!  Now head on over to Krafty Girls and link up your 3D projects!  :)

Magnetic Photo Frame & Blueberries Galore!!!!

Hello everyone!!!!  I had a lot of people asking me for the recipe to the blueberry scones, so you can find it at the end of this post!!!  YUMMY!  Today is another DT day for me over at Joy's Life.  Our challenge this week was to create a scrapbooking project...  Well, as you know, I don't really scrapbook much...  I make cards, so this was a bit of a brain twister for me!  :)  I ended up recycling a cereal box to make a frame to put on my fridge...  I have a lot of cereal boxes that I have been collecting, so this was perfect!  :)  Here's what I came up with....

Here you can see the back of the Mini-Wheats box and the magnetic tape...

This frame fits a 4 x 6" photo
George and Basic Shapes- frame: outer rectangle cut at 7.71", inner rectangle cut at 5.35"
Freshly Picked- flowers cut at 5.35", shovel cut at 2.76"
Joy's Life Stamps- Tag You're It Set Two
Cereal box
Magnetic tape

NOW, I mentioned in my previoius post that my family went blueberry pickin' on a cute little farm over the weekend!  It was so fun, and it was quite an adventure for my niece (the nature girl)...  We picked a TON of blueberries!  We also got eaten alive by mosquitos, and I spotted a big 'ol snake under one of the blueberry bushes, but that's all part of the adventure!!!  :)

This is the picture of the "kids" (I couldn't resist) that I am going to put in this frame!  Chloe was so proud of her blueberries and she was very excited about the baby goats...  She's also very proud of her missing tooth that she had lost that morning.  She can just push the blueberries right on through there!

This is only a small fraction of the blueberries that we picked!  There were so many, and my mind started racing through all of the recipes I could make (pancakes, muffins, SCONES)!

As promised, here is the recipe for the blueberry scones that I ended up making with my blueberries....  YUMMO!!!!  :)

(*This recipe is from All Recipes, I don't have a Grandma Johnson)...  :)

*I left out the raisins, added blueberries, and pressed raw sugar onto the top before baking.

 Ingredients
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup raisins (optional)
Directions
  1. In a small bowl, blend the sour cream and baking soda, and set aside.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a large baking sheet.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt. Cut in the butter. Stir the sour cream mixture and egg into the flour mixture until just moistened. Mix in the raisins.
  4. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead briefly. Roll or pat dough into a 3/4 inch thick round. Cut into 12 wedges, and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden brown on the bottom.

Earth Day Card

Hey everyone!  Hope you are all enjoying your Tuesday!  I am back at work today, after the nice 4-day weekend...  I can't believe how fast this year is going by (both, the calendar year and the school year)!  Soon I will have to say goodbye to these kiddos...  :(  Anywho, today is another challenge over at Krafty GirlsThe challenge this week is to create a project using something recycled or create an Earth Day project.  As I was making this card, I was thinking about how excited my students get about saving the Earth.  They love to talk about recycling and they pick up litter on the playground, etc.  Last year, one of my students would thrust his fist into the air and say "We're Going Green"!  It was so cute!  I couldn't find any Earth images on the Cricut, so I had to freehand the continents onto a circle and then color it myself...  Hope you like what I came up with!

Create a Critter- hearts cut at 5.35", .76", .41"
George and Basic Shapes- circle cut at 3.12"
Zooballoo- tree cut at 3.59"
Scrappy Moms Stamps- Spring Fling
Stickles- Christmas red
Prismacolor watercolor pencils

Hope you'll join us over at Krafty Girls!  :)

Dog Mini Album- Part 1

Hey there everyone!  I made this mini-album for my sweet little pups!  It's dimensions are 5 x 7.  This was my first (and only so far) mini album that I've made.  I was excited with how it turned out!! :)  Today I will show you the cover and the first pages...

The paper that I used was Pressed Petals Dogs 'n Cats Assortment (I glued the paper onto pieces of old cereal boxes to make the pages).  The title was a sticker that I had (sorry I can't remember which brand).  Both of the dogs were cut from the Paper Pups cartridge.  The white dog was cut at 2.18", and I made it fuzzy using Fuzzy Fun Flock-Cotton Ball White.  The black dog was cut at 1.47", and I used Fuzzy Fun Flock-Plain Old Black.  I inked all of the edges with my Stampin' Up Chocolate Chip ink pad, drew on some collars with a red marker, and added Star Dust Stickles and Glossy Accents for the finishing touches.

I made the frames for the pictures by using 2 scalloped rectangles from the Create a Critter cartridge.  The big rectangle is cut at 6.51" and the inner rectangle was cut at 5.11".  To make the tennis ball I used the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge to cut a piece of green paper at 9.82" (not sure why it was that big).  I made it fuzzy using Fuzzy Fun Flock- Lemonade Yellow, then I freehanded some white strips and cut them to glue on top.  For their names I used the Doodletype cartridge.  The letters are 1.24", and I welded them together using my Gypsy.  I used my white gel pen to do stitching, embossed them with "a la mode" sparkle embossing powder, and then covered it with Glossy Accents.  I love this embossing powder because it adds glitter and it made the letters feel like chipboard.

Hope you enjoy!  Keep checking back to see the other pages.... :)
