Get Well Soup Mix in a Jar

Hi there!  Today I have a fun project for you that is not a card!  I have to admit I have a little obsession with gifts that you can give in a jar...  I don't know why, but I really love things that come in jars!  I think they look so cute, they are easy to make, and they make people feel special!  So today, our DT challenge at Joy's Life was to create a project with a tag on it...  As soon as I saw this sentiment, I knew I had to make a soup mix in a jar!  I actually made these for Christmas a couple years ago.  The soup tastes really good, but people don't want to use it because it looks too pretty!  I will post the recipe at the bottom of this post, just in case you want to try giving this to someone too...  :)

Tags, Bags, Boxes & More- tags cut at 4.53", 3.94"
From My Kitchen- bowl cut at 2.18"
Joy's Life Stamps- Tag You're It: Set Two
Jute cord
Wide-mouth jar
Friendship Soup Mix (recipe below)

Well folks, there's my project with a tag on it!  I think this would really brighten someone's day...  I didn't have all of the ingredients for the soup mix, so I improvised!  :)  Thanks for stopping by!

Friendship Soup Mix in a Jar
1/3 cup beef bouillon granules
1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup dried minced onion
1/2 cup green or yellow dried split peas
1/4 cup wild rice
1/3 cup long-grain white rice
1/2 cup red or brown lentils
1/2 cup elbow macaroni
1 to 1 1/4 cups tri-colored corkscrew pasta (or enough to fill jar)

1.  Layer ingredients in order given into 1-quart wide-mouth jar with tight-fitting lid.  Pack down firmly after each layer.  Seal jar.

Friendship Soup
*Attach these instructions to the jar when you give it to someone.

1 jar Friendship Soup Mix
6 cups reduced-sodium vegetable stock
6 cups water
1/2 to 1 pound ground beef or turkey, browned and drained (optional)

1.  Remove colored pasta from jar; set aside.

2.  Pour stock and water into 5- to 6-quart saucepot.  Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring occasionally.  Add remaining contents of jar; return to a boil.  Reduce heat to a simmer.  Cover; simmer 20 to 30 minutes or until rice, lentils, and peas are tender.

3.  Add colored pasta and meat, if desired, to soup.  Return to a boil, stirring occasionally.  Reduce heat to a simmer.  Cover; simmer 10 to 15 minutes longer or until pasta is done.  Refrigerate leftovers.
Makes 12 servings

That Bites Popsicle Card

Hello and Happy Mother's Day everyone!  I spent yesterday with all the special ladies in my life...  We did our celebrating a day early, but it doesn't matter!  :)  I have been a busy lady lately, and I can't wait until my summer vacation starts!!!  I went bowling again, and I had so much fun staying late and playing with a cute, nice guy!  :)  The only problem is, I can't read him at all...  I would love to hang out more, but bowling is over now, so....  Anywho, I made this card for my Joy's Life DT post.  The challenge was to create something with a sweet treat and glitter on it!  Well, I love sweets and I love glitter!!!  I didn't use the Cricut on this project either!!!!!!  I know...  I've lost my mind!  I do like how it has a CAS feel to it...

A2 sized card
Cuttlebug- polka dots
Joy's Life Stamps- Sweet Popsicle Puns (the popsicles and the sentiment)

Ruff Day Card

Hey everyone!   Today is my design team day over at Joy's Life....  Our challenge this week was to create a project with an animal on it.  I love dogs!  I also love Create a Critter!  So....  the idea for this card came to me pretty quickly!  I absolutely love the size of these sentiments!  I just want to give that little puppy a hug (the wrinkled chin just gets me)!  Today I'm going to the swapmeet and then to the movies, so it should be pretty fun (not a "ruff" day at all)!  :)

Create a Critter- bone cut at 4.65", dog cut at 2.41", food bowl cut at 1"
Joy's Life Stamps- You're So Punny

Get Well Soon Card for Mom

Hello everyone!  I am so glad that tomorrow is Friday!!!  Woo hoo!  I am also relieved because my mom went in for surgery today and it went very well!  Her surgery took place about 45 minutes away, so my sister, niece and I are going to drive up there tomorrow to visit her in the hospital.  She had to have surgery on her knee (I believe it was a complete knee replacement)...  Luckily my dad was able to be there for her (check her in, wait with her, see her when the surgery was done)...  I whipped up this little beauty to give to her, and I had to incorporate crutches since that is how she will be getting around for a while!

Celebrate the Occasion- any occasion (must be circle shaped)
Paper Playtime- anything goes

Mini Monograms- card base cut at 5.47"
Walk in My Garden- flowers cut at 1.47", 1", 0.76" (I just layered them on top of each other)
George and Basic Shapes- plaid circle cut at 4.06", green circle cut at 3.47"
Everyday Paper Dolls- crutches cut at 5.59"
My Pink Stamper Stamps- Spectacular Sayings
Button brads
White gel pen

There it is!  I kept this one nice and simple...  I wanted it to have a cheerful feel...  My niece also wanted to make a card for "gagga".  She came up with all of the colors, cuts, sizes, and the sentiment inside.  She even used the Cuttlebug all by herself (well, kind of by herself)!  We wanted to see what this little Kindergartener would come up with, and the result is so cute!  Here is a picture of what she created....  :)

Enjoy!  :)

Get Well Card- Monkey

Here is a card I made a while back.  It was for my friend Debbie who was going through cancer.  She had to take a radiation pill and couldn't be around anyone for 3 weeks!!!  We took her some magazines, chocolate, etc. and this card to help make her feel better.  Luckily she is doing fine now!  :)

Ruff Day Card

My poor little dog, Bella, had to go to the vet today because she has an ear infection.  I feel so bad for her, so I was inspired to make a get well card and incorporate a dog into the design somehow.  This is what I came up with.....

A2 sized card
Create a Critter Cricut Cartridge- <Terrier> cut at 3", bone cut at 2.25"
Cuttlebug- Seeing Spots Embossing Folder (blue layer 4" x 5 1/4")
Sentiment: My Pink Stamper Stamps- Punny-licous
Peachy Keen Stamps: Wide Eyed and Bushy Tailed Face Assortment
Flower Soft Ultra Fine- sand
Rhinestone, clear- The Paper Studio
Rhinestones, blue- Jolee's (I got mine at Wal-Mart)
White gel pen
Glossy Accents
Foam Tape
*To make the dog look "fuzzy", I applied Zig 2-way Glue Pen to the dog and then sprinkled the Flower Soft on it.

Since this post was inspired by my dogs, here is a picture of them....

Hope you're not having a "ruff" day.... :)
