Hello everyone!!!!  It's been a very long time since I have been on here!!!!  It has not been a long time since I was in my craft room, but I haven't had any time to sit down and post what I've been making...  I have been taking pictures of all the cards, crafts, etc. so hopefully I can post them soon.  For today I have a card that I want to enter into a few challenges.  It felt so good to be making a card for challenges again!  I have missed it, and I have missed posting on my blog.  I really do hope to be better about it!  :)

Dinosaur Card & Party for Chloe

Hello everyone!  I can't believe this is the first post I have done in February!!!!!  Oh my goodness!  There has been a lot going on for me, including the worst flu ever!!!!  I have not been this sick since high school!  My students are also dropping like flies, so I am disinfecting my room every chance I get...  Unfortunately the flu meant that I didn't have a very exciting birthday either, and my poor little niece was sick on her birthday too.  We did have her awesome dinosaur birthday party today, so we made up for being sick on our actual birthdays!  :)  One good thing that happened on my birthday was that my boyfriend sent me roses!  They were delivered to my school, and it was sweet, adorable, and completely unexpected!  :)  Anywho, here is the card that I made for my niece, and because I've been missing for so long, I will also show you pictures of her party (there's some cute ideas there), and I'll share a recipe for the punch that we made...

Frosted Designs- use bold colors or patterns
Paper Playtime- use a sentiment stamp
Go Fish Challenge Blog-  photo inspiration (bright colors and circles)
Craft Your Passion- use glitter

Birthday Bash- number 7 cut at 5.94"
Create a Critter- T-Rex cut at 3.59", other dinosaur cut at 3.47"
Sweet Treats- gift cut at 1.35", party hat cut at 1.35"
Cuttlebug- circle pattern (Papertrey Ink)
My Creative Time Stamps- Wow! So Many Candles
Stickles- star dust, yellow, magenta, lime green

Okay, here are some pictures from my niece's dinosaur themed birthday party!  A lot of these ideas are things my sister found on Pinterest...  The party was an absolute hit, and I think all of the kids AND adults had fun!!!!  :)

We made the spewing lava by pouring melted sugar over ice cubes.  It created those really cool twisted looking pieces!

These were the "goodie bags".  Each kid took home a dinosaur egg (paper mache), then cracked it open when they got home.  Parents were texting pictures of their kid opening up the egg (so exciting)!  :)

Here's the birthday weirdo, I mean kid...  She loves T-Rex!  The kids also got to do a really cool dinosaur fossil hunt at night.  My sister made fossils out of dough, then we hid them all over the yard.  When it got dark, we had the kids look for fossils using flashlights.  Everyone really loved that activity!  :)

Here's the recipe for the Luscious Slush Punch.  Now, in the picture it doesn't look very "luscious" or "slushy", but trust me, it was really good!

Luscious Slush Punch
(Recipe from allrecipes.com)

*We only used 1 cup of white sugar (it was still sweet enough), and we froze the mixture in gallon Ziploc bags.

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups white sugar
6 cups water
2 (3 ounce) packages
strawberry flavored Jell-O® mix
1 (46 fluid ounce) can
pineapple juice
2/3 cup lemon juice
1 quart
orange juice
2 (2 liter) bottles
lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage

Directions

  1. Bring the sugar, water, and strawberry flavored gelatin to a boil in a large saucepan; boil for 3 minutes. Stir in the pineapple juice, lemon juice, and orange juice. Divide mixture into 2 separate containers and freeze.
  2. Combine the contents of 1 container with 1 bottle of the lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage in a punch bowl; stir until slushy. Repeat with remaining portions as needed.

Okay everyone...  Thanks for stopping by, and I'm sorry it's been so long!

Hello everyone!  Hope everyone is enjoying their week so far...  Today I am taking a group of kids to a Poetry and Prose event about 45 minutes away from my school.  I am also taking them out to eat at McDonald's afterwards.  Then tomorrow, I am going to be taking my class on a field trip... We are going to watch a movie at the movie theater!  I hope I'm strong enough for this!  Just kidding, I actually have a pretty good bunch of kiddos this year...  Anywho, it's my design team day over at Joy's Life.  Our challenge this week was to create a card with an interesting fold...  I have made one of these twisted easel cards before, and I thought it would be fun to make another one!  :)  The video I watched is HERE...  Hope you enjoy!

Wrap it Up- pirate ship cut at 4.29"
Paper Doll Dress Up- pirate boy cut at 2.88"

Snowman Birthday Card

Hello and Happy Wednesday everyone!  I am so excited that the work week is halfway over!  :)  I had a really difficult time making a snowman birthday card (not sure why)...  I actually like the way the card turned out, so I was glad that I challenged myself...  Making birthday cards makes me think about all of the birthdays that are coming up: my sister's, my niece's, and my *gulp* 30th birthday next month!!!  I am actually excited about turning 30, well...  we'll see how I feel about it next month!  Hee hee...  :)  Anywho, here is my take on a winter birthday card.

FCCB- use snowflake or snowman
My Craft Spot- "snow much fun" use a snowflake or snowman
Cuttlebug Spot- winter
Perfect Sentiments- birthday card using embossing resist
The Paper Variety- use a fan fold embellishment (I think these wrappers count)
She's a Sassy Lady- birthday card
Getting Cricky- let it snow, use embossing
Crafting for All Seasons- snowflake or snowman
Birthday Sundaes- use the photo for inspiration

A2 sized card
Winter Frolic- all snowmen cut at 2.29"
Sweet Treats- cupcake wrappers cut at 2.06"
Cuttlebug- seeing spots
Peachy Keen Stamps- winter face assortment
Sentiment, computer generated:  Curlz MT font at size 20
A la Mode- sparkle embossing powder
Cupcake and snowflake stamps
MS ink- ocean
Prismacolor pencils for the noses and cheeks

*I accordion folded the cupcake wrappers by scoring them on my MS scoring board and then folding them.  I attached tabs to them on my Gypsy by using a rectangle from George and Basic Shapes.  I was then able to fold the tabs behind the snowmen to keep them in their wrappers.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your week!  Bye y'all!!!  :)

Hello everyone!!!  I am so proud of myself for posting this many things so early in the year!  I don't make resolutions because I never stick to them, but I set a sort of personal goal (I guess that's what a resolution is, but hey) to post more often...  So far, so good!  :)  This card is for my friend Sarah.  Her birthday is on Tuesday and we have been joking about her getting old because she's turning 25 (whew, mid-twenties)...  That's why I chose this particular sentiment for the card... Birthday Sundaes Guest Designer!!! :)

Hey everyone!!!  I am so excited to be a guest designer over at Birthday Sundaes!!!  I am also excited that I was able to get back into my craft room and make something!  It felt great to go through my paper packs, stamps, etc....  I am feeling so much better and I had a great time yesterday at a tarantula festival!  I have a major case of aracnophobia, but I actually let a real, live tarantula crawl across the back of my hand!!!!  It was a really proud moment for me to overcome such a huge fear of mine!  I will be posting some pictures later from the festival, and hopefully a card to go with it....  :)  Now onto my card for Birthday Sundaes...  I love this challenge blog (it's one of my faves)!  The challenge was to create a birthday card with any theme...  I hope you enjoy what I came up with, and that you will check out all of the other guest designer's blogs!  :)

40th Birthday Card

Hey there!
This is also another card that I submitted for NSD in the cupcake challenge.  It is a birthday card that I made for a friend of mine who just turned 40.  She is also a teacher at my school and it was really fun to decorate her classroom with black balloons and things that said 40 on them! :)  She likes animal print and she enjoys bright colors, so this is what I came up with....

This is an A2 sized card (my favorite size to make)
Sweet Treats Cricut Cartridge:  "40" candles cut at 2", cupcake cut at 3"
Cuttlebug Zebra Print Embossing Folder (from the animal prints set)
Sentiment: Hero Arts 'Birthday Messages' stamp set
Versamark Ink
Clear embossing powder
Stickles: Turquoise
Martha Stewart Crystal Fine glitter
Glossy Accents

I embossed the pink background with the Cuttlebug folder and I inked the raised areas with my Versamark ink.  I then sprinkled clear embossing powder over it and used my heat tool to set it.  On my Gypsy I hid the swirly pattern that was on top of the cupcake.  To make the candles sparkle, I ran them through my purple Xyron sticker making machine (upside down) and then sprinkled them with clear glitter.  I used Glossy Accents on the flames to make them look shiny.

My friend really liked this and I hope you do too! :)

Dinosaur Birthday Card for Chloe

Since this blog is new, I haven't posted any projects yet, so I will start with a card I made for my niece's 5th birthday.  She loves dinosaurs and she was pretty excited about turning the big "5", so I made sure to incorporate both of those elements!  Her birthday was actually in February, but hey, I didn't have a blog back then, so here it goes!

Here's how I made it:
This is an A7 sized card (10" x 7" folded in half)
Cricut Cartridges used:
Create a Critter- Dinosaur cut at 4"
Sweet Treats- <cake2> cut at 3" & 5 candle cut at 1 1/4"
Zooballoo- Grass cut at 2"
Cuttlebug Polka Dots Embossing Folder (blue)
Cuttlebug Forest Branches Embossing Folder (green hill), I freehanded the slope on the hill
Sentiment is from mypinkstamper stamp set: Punny-licious
Stickles: green, turqouise, dark blue
Fuzzy Fun Flock: Berry Pink & Lemonade Yellow
Glossy Accents
Black brad for the eye
Black polka dot ribbon (I believe mine is from papertreyink)

Hope you enjoy!
