Y2K Card- Peachy Keen Stamps LFIF Challenge

Hello everyone!  I have had a very nice Thursday, just spent the day shopping with a wonderful friend!  :)  It's also my hubby and I's 10 year anniversary (of the day we met)!  I can't believe it's been a decade!  Anywho, the Let's Face it Friday Challenge at Peachy Keen Stamps is to create something that represents the year you graduated from high school....  This is so fun!  I graduated in 2000 (my dad was so excited I was going to be in the first graduating class in the new millenium), and so the first thing I did was Google things that happened that year....  It was so fun looking back at some of the things that were happening 11 years ago:  President Bush was elected (remember the "hanging chads" and all of that chaos with the ballots?); N'Sync, Christina Aguilera, and Britney Spears were the big music stars; the first season of Survivor came on (I've never watched that show); etc., etc., etc.....  I also got my driver's license that year (I don't know why I waited until I was 18)!  :)  BUT, the one thing that kept sticking out in my mind was the big hype about Y2K and the computers crashing at midnight on 1/1/2000.  In my senior pictures I even posed with a big Y2K sign (it's so funny)!  So here is what I came up with....

A2 sized card
George and Basic Shapes- computer: squares cut at 2.06" & 1", oval cut at 1.71"
Everyday Paper Dolls- girl & clothes cut at 4.52", hair cut at 4.29"
Cuttlebug- seeing spots
Peachy Keen Stamps-  Everyday Character Face Assortment
Y2K-  OCR A Extended font at size 72
Stickles- star dust
Glossy Accents
Mini button brad
Cord

This card was very simple to make (and very silly), and I was smiling the entire time I was making it!  Hope this puts a smile on your face too...  Enjoy reminiscing!  :)

** I am also submitting this in the Craft Junkie Too T.G.I.F. linky party.

Oh gosh Amy, this is cuter than a sparkly button! Her expression is priceless and I'm just amazed (though not surprised) at how you so perfectly crafted this scene! Using 2000 as the ID number is just one of the fabulous details. I seriously cannot stop smiling.. thank you for that! Your talent and creativity are just incredible. (And I love that she's wearing plaid!)

Hugs and blessings! :o)

Yes, I remember the "big scare" of Y2K. I thought it was funny then and this just brings back so many memories. I love all the details on this card. You did a great job. I especially love the cord coming down from the back of the computer. AMAZING!

Love, love, LOVE your card! The glittery letters and power cord are great touches. I was in IT in my pre-SAHM days, so you made me smile seeing my current hobby combined with my past occupation. :) Great job!

Amy, after I commented on your card a minute ago, I went back and started scrolling down to see what I had missed on your blog. I got to the awards page and read your 7 facts. You said you can learn a song after hearing it only a couple times. My husband does the same thing. He not only can sing it, he can play it on a guitar, bass, or keyboard. My friend you are a God gifted musician!! But you knew that, right? Hugs again, Pam at http://craftycards4u2.blogspot.com/

Years ago, I entered a contest. It had no time limit, and it had to be freestyle. That meant, no pre-made stickers or stamps could be used. It had to represent me in all categories. The finished product had to reflect intelligence, inter- and outer beauty, good personality, and a drive to succeed in all endeavors. And, guess what?, I won! You, my little Read-Headed Crafter, you are one of my best creations, my first born. I love you, and I am so proud of all that you do. I present you with "The Apple of My Eye Award!"

Love you, mom

Oh man, there is something about this card that makes it my FAVORITE!!!!!!!!! It is probably do to the fact that our family is extremely silly and would choose funny over almost anything (except for chocolate)! I remember the whole Y2K frenzy quite clearly too! Remember Dad was on a Y2K hazard squad had to go off to hospitals and make sure their facilities were as ready as can be for the possible "crash"? Hahha! Love your cards, but most of all YOU!

Your Sis,
Joni
