Owl Birthday Card

Wow!  I'm impressed with myself for posting two projects in one day!!! :)  I wanted to post the last pages of my mini-album and I wanted to enter the Monday Challenge at http://craftspotbykimberly.blogspot.com/. The challenge this week is to create something using cute critters.  My favorite Cricut cartridge is Create a Critter, so I love making projects with animals on them!  This card was for my sister's birthday, and I used the Hoot 'n' Holler cartridge because she LOVES owls....  The lighting in my craft room is so bad, but here it is....

A2 sized card
Hoot 'n' Holler Cricut Lite Cartridge- owl cut at 3"
Cuttlebug folders- Swiss Dots for the owl layer, Spots and Dots for the light blue strip
Sentiment:  My Pink Stamper Stamps- Tweetie Hoo Puns
Patterned paper is from the Basic Grey lime rickey collection
Stickles- yellow (used to add sparkle to the patterned background)
Ribbon (Paper Trey Ink)
Black mini brads

Dog Mini Album- Part 3

Here are the last pages of my mini album.  It was a really short album, and I wanted to keep it pretty simple (without a lot of embellishments).  Hope you enjoy!!

The tab picture cards are cut at 3.59" on the From My Kitchen cartridge.  The pocket for the cards measures 3 x 7".  I used My Pink Stamper stamps to add little "punnies" to the tabs.  For the "sisters" title I used the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge.  The letters are 1.75" and I used my Gypsy to weld them together, added the sparkle embossing powder, and covered them with Glossy Accents.  For the dog border going along the bottom of the pocket, I used the Paper Pups cartridge.  The border is two images welded together and it measures 6.75" x 1.21".  To finish off the page I added some Prima flowers with button brads.  For the last page I cut a piece of brown cardstock measuring 4.75" x 6.25", embossed it using the Polka Dots Cuttlebug folder, and scored it 1/2" from the top (I used my ATG gun to adhere it to the album).  I mounted my photos with photo corners and added ribbon and embellishments to the top to finish it off.  The last thing I did was bind the album together using my Bind-it-All.  This album was really fun to make and I can see myself making more albums in the future!  See ya later! :)

Dog Mini Album- Part 2

Hey there!  I hope everyone is enjoying their 3 day weekend as much as I am! :)  Yesterday I went and hung out with a couple of friends, and today I've been working on a yearbook for my students.  I can't believe another school year is almost over!!!!  Anywho, here are the next couple of pages from my mini album.

I wanted these two pages to show off pictures of my dogs when they were puppies.  For the dogs I used the Create a Critter cartridge, both are cut at 2".  The white dog is actually the dog in the booklet wearing the fire helmet, so I had to round the top of the shadow off (with my scissors) to get rid of the hat.  I hid their faces on my Gypsy, and then stamped faces for them using the Peachy Keen Critter Faces- medium.  The titles are from the Alphalicious cartridge.  They are cut at 1.94" and I used my Gypsy to weld them together.  I embossed them with the same sparkle embossing powder and then covered them with Glossy Accents.  The pockets measure 4 x 6", the layers for the pockets are 3 3/4 x 5 3/4".  I added eyelets with my Crop-a-Dile and brown ribbon.  The tags inside the pockets were cut from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More at 3.25 x 6.25".  I added ribbon scraps to the ends of the tags and stapled them into place.  I put two tags in each pocket and used them for puppy pictures and journaling.  Whew!  That's a lot of explaining...  Hope you likey!!! :)

Dog Mini Album- Part 1

Hey there everyone!  I made this mini-album for my sweet little pups!  It's dimensions are 5 x 7.  This was my first (and only so far) mini album that I've made.  I was excited with how it turned out!! :)  Today I will show you the cover and the first pages...

The paper that I used was Pressed Petals Dogs 'n Cats Assortment (I glued the paper onto pieces of old cereal boxes to make the pages).  The title was a sticker that I had (sorry I can't remember which brand).  Both of the dogs were cut from the Paper Pups cartridge.  The white dog was cut at 2.18", and I made it fuzzy using Fuzzy Fun Flock-Cotton Ball White.  The black dog was cut at 1.47", and I used Fuzzy Fun Flock-Plain Old Black.  I inked all of the edges with my Stampin' Up Chocolate Chip ink pad, drew on some collars with a red marker, and added Star Dust Stickles and Glossy Accents for the finishing touches.

I made the frames for the pictures by using 2 scalloped rectangles from the Create a Critter cartridge.  The big rectangle is cut at 6.51" and the inner rectangle was cut at 5.11".  To make the tennis ball I used the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge to cut a piece of green paper at 9.82" (not sure why it was that big).  I made it fuzzy using Fuzzy Fun Flock- Lemonade Yellow, then I freehanded some white strips and cut them to glue on top.  For their names I used the Doodletype cartridge.  The letters are 1.24", and I welded them together using my Gypsy.  I used my white gel pen to do stitching, embossed them with "a la mode" sparkle embossing powder, and then covered it with Glossy Accents.  I love this embossing powder because it adds glitter and it made the letters feel like chipboard.

Hope you enjoy!  Keep checking back to see the other pages.... :)

Ruff Day Card

My poor little dog, Bella, had to go to the vet today because she has an ear infection.  I feel so bad for her, so I was inspired to make a get well card and incorporate a dog into the design somehow.  This is what I came up with.....

A2 sized card
Create a Critter Cricut Cartridge- <Terrier> cut at 3", bone cut at 2.25"
Cuttlebug- Seeing Spots Embossing Folder (blue layer 4" x 5 1/4")
Sentiment: My Pink Stamper Stamps- Punny-licous
Peachy Keen Stamps: Wide Eyed and Bushy Tailed Face Assortment
Flower Soft Ultra Fine- sand
Rhinestone, clear- The Paper Studio
Rhinestones, blue- Jolee's (I got mine at Wal-Mart)
White gel pen
Glossy Accents
Foam Tape
*To make the dog look "fuzzy", I applied Zig 2-way Glue Pen to the dog and then sprinkled the Flower Soft on it.

Since this post was inspired by my dogs, here is a picture of them....

Bella & Maddie

Hope you're not having a "ruff" day.... :)

Paisley Thank You Card

A friend of mine helped me clean all of my cabinets at work.  Let me tell you that teachers can accumulate a lot of "stuff" over the years.  It was a big job (that I've been avoiding for 4 years), and she took time out of working in her own classroom to help me, so....  I owe her a big thanks!  Here is the card I came up with for her.

A2 sized card
Paisley Cricut Cartridge- <Paisly1> cut at 2.88"
Sentiment: Hero Arts- Trees, Birds & Messages Stamp Set
Patterned paper is from Making Memories 'brights mat stack'
Martha Stewart turquoise tinsel glitter
Zebra print brad (The Paper Studio)
VersaMark Ink
White Embossing Powder
White gel pen
Pop-up Glue Dots

On my Gypsy I flipped the paisley image.  I ran the blue piece (upside down) through my Xyron sticker maker, then layered the pink piece over it.  Then I sprinkled the exposed areas with the glitter.  Once all of the pieces were layered, I used my Crop-a-Dile Big Bite to punch a hole for the brad, and I did some stitching with my white gel pen.  I rounded the corners of the card, and did stitching around those edges too.  Then I stamped the sentiment with VersaMark ink and embossed it with white embossing powder.

See ya later!

Bird Shaped Card

I really love birds, so I made this cute little birdie card!

This is an A2 sized card
3 Birds on Parade Cricut Cartridge- <Bird1> cut at 5"
Cuttlebug Birds and Swirls Embossing Folder
Sentiment: My Pink Stamper Stamp Set- Tweetie Hoo Puns
Stickles- turquoise
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist- dazzling diamonds
Prima Flower
Mini button brad (The Paper Studio)
Glossy Accents

On my Gypsy I copied the image of the bird, and then flipped it.  I then moved the copied image up until they were slightly overlapping, and welded the two images together to make the card base.  I stamped and embossed the light blue layer and then layered all the pieces.  I sprayed the entire thing with glimmer mist, added stickles, and a prima flower with a button brad.  I got those adorable brads at Hobby Lobby.  I covered the eyes, beak, and legs with Glossy Accents.

See ya later peeps!!!  Hee hee...

40th Birthday Card

Hey there!
This is also another card that I submitted for NSD in the cupcake challenge.  It is a birthday card that I made for a friend of mine who just turned 40.  She is also a teacher at my school and it was really fun to decorate her classroom with black balloons and things that said 40 on them! :)  She likes animal print and she enjoys bright colors, so this is what I came up with....

This is an A2 sized card (my favorite size to make)
Sweet Treats Cricut Cartridge:  "40" candles cut at 2", cupcake cut at 3"
Cuttlebug Zebra Print Embossing Folder (from the animal prints set)
Sentiment: Hero Arts 'Birthday Messages' stamp set
Versamark Ink
Clear embossing powder
Stickles: Turquoise
Martha Stewart Crystal Fine glitter
Glossy Accents

I embossed the pink background with the Cuttlebug folder and I inked the raised areas with my Versamark ink.  I then sprinkled clear embossing powder over it and used my heat tool to set it.  On my Gypsy I hid the swirly pattern that was on top of the cupcake.  To make the candles sparkle, I ran them through my purple Xyron sticker making machine (upside down) and then sprinkled them with clear glitter.  I used Glossy Accents on the flames to make them look shiny.

My friend really liked this and I hope you do too! :)

Friends Fur-ever Card

A2 sized card
Everyday Paper Dolls- Dog cut at 3"
Cuttlebug Spots and Dots Embossing Folder- green strip
Sentiment: My Pink Stamper Set- Punny-licious
Stickles: star dust
Brown Ribbon
Silver eyelets

I used my Crop-a-Dile Big Bite to add silver eyelets to the collar and the sentiment.  I also used a bit of colored pencil to add detail to the lines of the dog.  I think the dog on this cartridge is so cute, but he needs a bit of embellishment.  I used a white gel pen for the stitching, the outlining of the collar, and the "shine" on the eyes and nose.  I thought the chocolate brown and green went really well together (but I do love anything chocolate, and my favorite color is green)...
Hope you like it! :)

Poodle Card & Mermaid Card

These are a couple of cards that I made for the NSD challenges over at mypinkstamper.com
I really like her website and I LOVE her stamps.  They are really nice quality and they even smell kind of good! :)
The first card is a poodle card which I submitted in the "pet" project category:

This is an A2 sized card (8 1/2" x 5 1/2" folded in half)
Create a Critter cartridge- Poodle cut at 3"
Cuttlebug Perfectly Paisley Embossing Folder
Sentiment: My Pink Stamper stamp set- More Punny-licious
Poodle face is from Peachy Keen Stamps- Wide Eyed and Bushy Tailed Face Asst.
Fuzzy Fun Flock: Cotton Ball White
Stickles: Star dust (my favorite!)
Black Swiss Dot Ribbon
Black mini brads
*On my Gypsy, I hid the face (so I could add my own using those ADORABLE stamps) and flipped the image.  Once the image was finished cutting, I cut the poodle's nose off with my scissors (I just tried to round the face so it would look natural)....

The next thing I submitted was this mermaid card (in the summer themed project).

This is also an A2 sized card
Cricut Cartridges used:
George and Basic Shapes for the bubbles
Paper Doll Dress Up: Mermaid cut at 4"
Cuttlebug Spots and Dots Embossing Folder- blue background
Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder- sand
Sentiment: My Pink Stamper Stamp Set- More Punny-licious
Mermaid Face: Peachy Keen Stamps- Everyday Character Face Asst.
Pearl embellishments
Stickles: Lime green, star dust

These were fun to make, hope you'll give them a try! :)

Dinosaur Birthday Card for Chloe

Since this blog is new, I haven't posted any projects yet, so I will start with a card I made for my niece's 5th birthday.  She loves dinosaurs and she was pretty excited about turning the big "5", so I made sure to incorporate both of those elements!  Her birthday was actually in February, but hey, I didn't have a blog back then, so here it goes!

Here's how I made it:
This is an A7 sized card (10" x 7" folded in half)
Cricut Cartridges used:
Create a Critter- Dinosaur cut at 4"
Sweet Treats- <cake2> cut at 3" & 5 candle cut at 1 1/4"
Zooballoo- Grass cut at 2"
Cuttlebug Polka Dots Embossing Folder (blue)
Cuttlebug Forest Branches Embossing Folder (green hill), I freehanded the slope on the hill
Sentiment is from mypinkstamper stamp set: Punny-licious
Stickles: green, turqouise, dark blue
Fuzzy Fun Flock: Berry Pink & Lemonade Yellow
Glossy Accents
Black brad for the eye
Black polka dot ribbon (I believe mine is from papertreyink)

Hope you enjoy!

My First Post

I have been debating over whether or not to create a blog...  But I just decided, WHY NOT?!?!  I think it will be fun to have a place to post my pictures.  Hopefully my projects can inspire someone else out there...  This is so exciting!!!  :)  Thanks!
